The Unilever Speciality Chemicals companies. Including Crosfield, were acquired by I.C.I. in July 1997. In 2001, Ineos Capital purchased Crosfield and renamed the entire company, Ineos Silicas.

The site is very much active and with people all over the show we did wonder if it would be possible to explore?

Well there was only one way to find out if it was possible! So with suits on, Hiviz vests and hard hats. We walked straight in through the main entrance and wandered unchallenged around the entire site.

The ironic thing was, as we where exploring the site we stumbled across a derelict section! We couldnt believe it. We also didnt waste the opportunity either and explored this section as well.

Inside was better than we had expected. Greeted with mazes of pipe work and chemical tanks which sprouted off in every direction. We couldnt of asked for more.

The derelict section also housed some impressive labs which were still equipped with all sorts of bizarre contraptions. There adjacent offices were also just as impressive and filled with paperwork.

This has to be one of the most audacious and insane explores we have done to date! But worth every second, Perfectly executed in every way and another live site conquered. :)
