The site we visited was there old factory and was vacated some time ago, the new factory and offices are now based at Newstead Industrial estate to the south of Stoke-On-Trent.
Visited with Gazza who also played tour guide for the evening.
The site is very deceiving from the outside and looks rather dull, but once you enter the site its like the Tardis, its 10 times bigger than what you think and very photogenic too.
The main factory floor is naturally quite empty with all the major machinery missing but there is still some over head cranes still in situ in quite a few places, there is also an abundance of company magazines and literature scattered all over the offices.
The back section to the factory houses the spray room but all that remains in here is some old fashioned pump trucks and trolleys.
The factory office how ever still has accident books and diaries still in situ as well as some christmas decorations still hung up.
In the main office section there is plenty of paper work in parts and even some technical drawing equipment that was probably used by the design teams, still in place.
Apart from that the only other items we came across where some company photographs.
In all we spent just over an hour on this site, exploring it in depth, the site is very photogenic and the lighting is amazing in sections.
From the outside you wouldnt even consider exploring this place but it is one of them sites that has a lot more to see behind its dull exterior and definatley worth taking the time to visit.
Since our visit in July 2007 workmen have been seen on site, so it may indicate that the place is either going to fall victim to Hanleys regeneration program or that some one or company has expressed and interest in buying the place.
