Pennine Way Hotel.

The Pennine Way Hotel was built in 1972 as a three star hotel with 130 rooms, the hotel is located near the main round about in Oldham town centre.

The hotel closed in 2004 with the loss of over 20 jobs, since the hotels closure various companies have expressed and interest in the site including the local council and the university.

The hotel is currently being demolished and will be totally gone by the end of 2007, work had begun in November but so far only the lifts and main fixtures and fittings have been removed, it looks like they are starting from the inside out.

We looked at this place some time ago and actually had a crack at it, but since the hotel closed it has had a redcare alarm system in place with internal sensors and PA systems to ward of any intruders.

After our first attempt failed we decided to leave the place until access was a bit more easy and the alarms had been turned off, this how ever would prove to be a few months down the line.

Then one night in November I recieved a call from Mendoza, "The Pennine is doable, Bungle informs me".

Seems our patietence paid off!

So with the news confirmed a plan was formed, we where still unsure if the redcare alarm system was still working, but with signs that the demolition team had already begun work we concluded that the power was off for good.

So one cold wet night in November myself and The New Mendoza headed off over to Oldham to meet Bungle and DCG and finally crack this place.

On arrival we didnt know what to expect and headed straight for the previous access point, this was now not possible and looked quite dangerous so alternate entry points where needed.

Fortunatley the demolition team had left the lift shaft doors open and a few minutes later we where inside, once everyone was in we headed straight for the rooftop and continued to work our way down through the hotel.

Turns out though the top floors where empty which was disappointing but the lower we got the more we found including a rather impressive mirrored lobby and extensive kitchens, the managers office even contained paperwork and accounts which was an added bonus.

We spent a few hours in here and explored every inch of the place, Sadly in early 2008 the hotel was totally demolished.
