Loxley College.

The Loxley Centre was part of The Sheffield University and is split in two sections across Wood Lane in Stannington Sheffield and covers over 22 acres.
The College has been closed since 2005 and since fell into a bad state of disrepair and has also been vandalised and stripped of its internal features by thieves and vandals alike.
The site is currently up for redevelopment with proposals to erect somewhere in the region of over 100 houses and semi detached houses. across the site and its playing fields.
The College itself is really what you would expect to find any where else in the country, typical drab looking buildings of no real asthetic appeal and very dated looking.
Having said that though it still has a few features worth seeing inside including a rather large Photography department with rolls and rolls of film still lying all over the place.
The rest of the site though really is in poor condition and smashed to pieces which is a shame as internally it boasts some rather cool landings and annexes as well as a large refectory with balcony.
If it wasnt for travelling to Sheffield to meet our fellow explorers on the other side of the Pennines we would never of known about this place.
We spent around an hour in here before being joined by the rest of the Sheffield Guys, unfortunatley though not long after, we where spotted by security whilst taking in the views from the roof.
At this point it was decided it would be best to vacate the site as we had been compramised, so with this we headed out only to be confronted with six baton wielding Police officers.
I think they more shocked than us at first! Them expecting a full on battle with a bunch of hardened criminals only to be confronted with 11 Urban Explorers ranging from 14 to early 50s, it was priceless.
Having explained our reason for being there though tensions soon dropped and bewilderment set in, they just couldnt understand why we do it?
After the usual exchange of details and checks all was well and we where escorted of the premises, not the most successful explore ever but certainly entertaining none the less, we where fortunate though and the local Police where more than fair with us.
